2006_11_19

Kelsey has had a busy weekend!
She had her first visit to church this morning (not that she knew where she was!)...

...And yesterday, she received her first "love note" from William vanRij! I didn't think I'd be having to pull my "boyfriend speech" this early on!
We might have to go and have a talk with that young fella's parents I think?!!!

2006_11_11 Kiwis vs. "Not so great" Britian!

What a game!!! The Kiwis *SMASHED* the English 34-4. It was incredible to watch! Sarah, Isabella, Hugo, Hunter, Sym, Warwick, Jordan and I all went along.

McGee, a true kiwi, proudly sang our national anthem! Let's just say his singing wasn't the highlight of the night!

Thanks for organising the outing Sym!

2006_11_04 We got our Kelsey!!!

"Now that I've had my bath...we can talk!"
After a fairly traumatic 32 hour labour, Kelsey Adelaide was born 8:28am, Saturday 4th November, weighing in at 3.54kg (7lb13oz). We are thrilled!!!

Kelsey spent a couple of nights under lights being treated for jaundice, but that has cleared up now. She's now feeding, sleeping and pooping(!) extremely well. It's nice to be home now too (Wed 8th).

Heather was incredible and is really going well. What an awesome Mum! She's had some issues with stitches popping, which has been extremely uncomfortable, to say the least, but the next couple of days should bring some improvement.

Our very real thanks to all of you who have prayed, texted, called, emailed and sent gifts over the past few days. We really have been overwhelmed by your love and support.

Special thanks to Rachael vanRij, Bekah, Chris and Myra, who all provided amazing help and encouragement during the labour/delivery! Also to our Midwife, Rachael McTavish, and the hosipital midwives (esp. Kim, Abby and Leanne).

We want to thank God too! All this has made us realise how much we can take for granted! You're awesome!

One thrilled Dad signing off!

2006_09_18 Injuries!

Note: This post added retrospectively...Pain has susbsequently been redefined by my good wife! See above post!

Came of the bike today on Kaukau Ridgeline trail. Took an hour to hike down...the adrenalin did it's job well! Going pretty quick at the time, shoulder hit ground first breaking collar bone. Smacked up knee a bit too. 8 week heal minimum. No damage to bike, which is the best bit!

Heather was at "Baby Skool". Thanks to Pip, Jordan & Mitchell for running me into the hospital and filling out all the forms for me. I thought I might drive myself in...but in hindsight I was dreaming! Thanks guys!

2006_08_26 Ski Trip

Photos from recent ski trip! Conditions on the mountain were pretty average (That's why there's no photos of us actually skiing!), but we had fun skiing 'blind' in poor visibility & rain/sleet. Stopped for a bbq at Mangaweka on the way home and enjoyed some MONSTER chocolate eclairs bought in Ohakune...NICE! Bekah came along and was a great help (Especially with the eclairs!).

2006_08 Power Up "D-Team"

We've really enjoyed spending time with the Power Up kids at "D-team" nights (D for discipleship!). Based at our home, we play games, spend time working thru a study called "Discovering Jesus", and finish up with supper! These guys are FUN and we've been encouraged by their enthusiasm and keeness to learn = )

2006_07_07 Power Up Camp

During the first week of the school hol's, 14 kids from the intermediate age group "Power Up", joined around 50 others at "Bible Discoverer's Camp". The camp was held at Foxton Bible Camp.

We had a ball! With visits to a local school gym, the Levin pool, a walk to see the flooded Manawatu River and mask-making, the week disappeared fast. After 3 straight days of rain we also ventured outside for some “Rain games”...that was FUN!

The theme of the camp was “Unmasked”...God looking thru the masks we put on to see the heart (1 Sam 16:7). The Spirit’s working was very evident thru the week, resulting in many spiritual conversations with the kids, and two trusting in Him for the first time!
